Participant information

The Chandolin–Zinal race is organised by the “Association Sierre-Zinal”. The Chandolin–Zinal course is 19 km long. Participants must therefore be properly prepared.

The race takes place on Saturday, August 8, 2026 in Chandolin and is open to young runners aged 10 to 17.

Children up to the age of 12 may be accompanied along the course. From age 13 onwards, participants must run without an accompanying person.
An accompanying adult for a junior up to 12 years old does not need a bib number. They run under their own responsibility, must provide their own refreshments and do not have access to the official aid stations of the race.

The Chandolin–Zinal course is not open to children under 10 years old.
Children under 10 may take part in the Course des Cinq Obstacles on Friday, August 7, 2026.

No registration refunds are issued by the race office. Participants who are unable to take part must contact the cancellation insurance directly. Entries cannot be deferred to the following year.

Equipment

You can take part in Sierre-Zinal wearing standard running shoes with good grip. Part of the race takes place above 2,000 metres; in uncertain weather conditions, it is advisable to wear mountain clothing (for tourists) or a tracksuit.

Ski poles and walking poles are not permitted. Dogs are not allowed. Checks will be carried out along the course and offenders will be disqualified. The ban on poles is for safety reasons. During the climb in the dark, runners move in single file and even a small misstep can injure the participant behind. The same applies on the narrow sections after the Hôtel Weisshorn. After all, Sierre-Zinal is a foot race.
